Suit Up

Roman Soldier Ever feel like you are at war?  Me, too.  But it’s not with people.  There is a spiritual battle going on around us and, unfortunately, between us.

Ephesians 6:12 says, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in heavenly places.”

So we are to suit up!  Not with guns and swords and such, but with the armor of God. We are to put on the belt of truth; the breastplate of righteousness; the shoes of peace; the shield of faith; the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God).” And we wear this suit as these pieces of armor are weaved together with prayer!

God is so awesome!  He did not say go get some armor so you are ready for these spiritual battles.  He said “Put on the full armor of God.” Ephesians 6:11.  That’s HIS armor. What does that mean?  It means I don’t have fight in my own strength.  He gives me His!!!  He gives me His protection.  It’s His armor I get to wear.  The very armor of the KING!  I hope you get the significance of that.  The battle is not ours.  It belongs to the Lord.

So what are you up against today?  Harassment at work; a wayward child; fear and doubts from within yourself?  Whatever it is, the battle is the Lord’s.  So suit up… in His armor. Gird yourself in His truth. Protect your heart by His righteousness. Wear shoes of peace. Carry the shield of faith front and center. Cover your head with His salvation and hold tight to the sword of the Spirit.  Above all, PRAY!  Pray for wisdom to use His armor.  Pray for courage to be in the battle in His armor. Then, stand up, suit up and step up in obedience to His calling!
