“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1.
Worry is mental distress or agitation resulting from concern usually for something impending or anticipated : anxiety.
I confess, I have struggled with worry and find myself there again from time to time. But I read a book that put God’s command to trust Him in a very clear perspective. You see throughout the Bible, God’s love letter to us, He reminds us that He loves us more that we can imagine. And He proved it by sending His Son, Jesus, to pay our debt to Him on the cross.
When I finally understood that God, my Savior, Jesus loves us so much that He took our place; I realized there is nothing He would do to hurt us. Now, understand, He never said He would take away all our troubles or sufferings. He said He would go through them with us – He would never leave nor forsake us.
Therefore, if we trust His love for us, then we do not have to fear anything He may call us to do. Even if trouble or suffering comes our way in our obedience, He will never leave us. He will go through the storm with us. And if we do not obey Him, trouble and suffering will come anyway (but with added consequences for our disobedience) because the Word of God says “in this life you will have trouble.”
So the bad news is that if you are alive, you will have trouble. But the good news is if you trust in Jesus, He will be with you through all of it! So have faith. Don’t worry!
Trust in His love and do not fear.
