The artwork above gives pretty sound advice. I’ve heard it said many times that you should only take advice from someone you are willing to trade places with and that is sound in a lot of respects. For example, if I am trying to better my investments I would not want advice from someone who doesn’t have any or if I am trying to understand a nursing concept I should get advice from a nurse proficient in that area.
But the best advice one could EVER get comes from God’s Word, the Holy Bible. Now, you should understand that it may fly in the face of everything you’ve been told by society. Let’s say you want to “become great”. Society teaches us that we must “climb the proverbial latter” and, let’s be honest, you do that by “stepping on heads”.
Jesus said in Mark 9:35 …“If anyone wants to be first, he shall be last of all and servant of all.”
Not exactly what society tells us, huh? Perhaps the point here is to be very careful from whom you seek advice. We are quick to run to someone who will tell us what we want to hear rather than what we need to hear.
If you’re a believer, I urge you so seek out what scripture says when needing some advice. If you just have to talk it over with someone (as we often do), then choose that person wisely. Be sure to seek counsel from someone who is living a godly life – practicing what they preach. You know they will direct you to what scripture teaches, even if it’s not what you want to hear.
But the best advisor is the Holy Spirit who teaches us all things. You learn from Him by consistently studying the Bible. Trust me, He comes through loud and clear when you seek Him.
