Most of us are very familiar with the poem above. If you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you have certain experienced times when Jesus carried you.
Sometimes folks think that salvation will be giddy happiness for the rest of their lives. Or they think that since they are “saved” no problems will ever come their way again. Or maybe they think that God would never ask them to step out in faith to do something so beyond their capabilities and comfort.
Not so. Instead of giddy happiness (we do have that at times), we have the joy of the Lord that cannot be taken away or explained. Life’s problems still come. After all, the Bible tells us that “it rains on the just and the unjust”, but we are never alone in life’s problems. And sooner or later we realize that our loving Father did not save us so we can be ever comfortable or so He could use us in whatever ways we are capable. We understand that salvation is our gift, but it’s all about Him. We learn that He has all POWER and He covers all ZONES so He can stretch us well beyond our capabilities and well outside our comfort zones. He is not limited.
In this faith journey with Jesus, we have some assurances:
- We are never alone
- We are loved
- We belong
- We are called to a purpose
- We are forgiven
- We are not our own
- We are to tell others about our great Savior
I’m so glad that Jesus is holding my hand on this journey of faith. I’m so glad I am never alone. I’m so glad the He gives PEACE that passes all understanding, even in the midst of this world’s chaos. Aren’t you?
